Hi Justin, It all depends weather you are using these directories to bring traffic to your site or SEO. I have ranked them using Alexa to give people a better idea what directories have the most traffic. Since you are trying to get backlinks for seo purposes, the list would be changed around a little.
Many people believe pagerank is dead and isnt worth anything anymore. I personally think it is still alive and kicking but...
I believe submitting 100 articles to a directory for backlinks and seo purposes is worth little more weight in Google than just one backlink from the same directory. Google only seem to be counting 1 or 2 backlinks from a domain these days to combat search engine link spam. The trick is to submit your article to as many different article directories as possible and have backlinks pointing for lots of different ip addresses.
Hi Aaron. Thanks for the response. Yea that sounds like a good perspective on it and I think you are right. From looking at siteexplorer though, at least backlinks reflected there do show sometimes multiple links from one article directory, but many times neither yahoo or google shows the links at all. I agree with you overall though because the more ip addresses, probably the better. Thanks again!

I am currently submitting articles to build back links for my new site (about 1 month old). Just wondering if I were to submit 10 articles to 10 different articles directories using the same article, would it be counted as 10 different backlinks? Or it won't help much because of the duplicate article issue?

Due to lots of spam directories and people using directories only with the idea of getting backlinks SE's have changed the algoritham as no now directories wont play an important role in backlinking. Is that true?

I think article base is going to be the top directory in a few years ezine articles is getting a huge head about themselves and pushing away people that contribute to their website but they are still top dog for the moment.

from my experience articlealley is nofollow. i'd replace it with A1Articles or articledashboard instead. both of which are PR of 5

I'm not sure on the link juice value passing of any of these sites tbh. If you are going to try, make sure to use original (or at the very worst spun) content when submitting your articles. Publishing the same article to 100 different article directories isn't going to get you any extra link juice.
Also article marketing services, such as Linkvana, free traffic system, unique article wizard etc may all be better options.

Thanks for all the article directories. I have been doing article marketing for about 6 months now and it always pays to use higher ranked directories. Most the directories you recommend are repeats that I have been using. But a few directories I have never heard of so I will give them a try as well. Thank again for the information!
I've found that writing quality content and distributing unique articles across multiple directories is what works best. I specially like www.articleslane.com because of its interface and fast approvals.
I love articlebase.com because they allow you to put the URL within the article rather than just the resourse
Good list, but I guess that you always need to ensure that your links on these websites are dofollow links, otherwise your work will go in vain. I'm using a semi-automatic script http://www.articlesubmitterscript.com to submit my articles and save lots of time to do the same job over and over.

Shahrukhcress - No that definitely isn't the case. Take PRWeb.com for example, they publish press releases to a huge amount of media outlets online. The articles are not spun or changed at all so thats 30,000+ versions of the same article being published online.
Duplicate issues only have become an issue when there are multiple versions of the same page on a single domain.

I like ezinearticles very much. it show more then 50 article on home page in recently approved articles, this means your article get maximum change for search engine visit as well as visit click. it also promote article profile page. if you are highly active on article sites your site page rank and search engine ranking will also increase. Just about to start our campaign submitting articles. The one Question I have though which was asked above, but got no definitive answer.
basically just want to know what the optimum number of databases you should submit one version of an article too? I say this in regards to the duplicate content issues
I have found the best article directory in the UK to be http://www.ukindex.co.uk, it is pr5 and has very strict submission guidelines so only original content is accepted.
It's difficult to submit to more than 10 article directories so using a list like this is totally a great idea. What I have also been doing lately is submitting translated articles in Spanish to articuloz.com and http://www.elatinozine.com. If you happen to be bilingual, don't be afraid to translate your articles on your sites into Spanish; you will reap the benefits.

What a great source of directory information - but I have to add something which is slightly interesting on this topic.
Earlier in the hub, Aaron mentioned that Google are possibly creating a single url link count from a directory, which I can tell you is not the case.
The limit is one keyword url linked per page, from any site to any site - and there are no limits at all. We have tested this, and the only questionable action which they may take is a "site limit" due to spam - so if you are using the same site to publish all the time, then they may cut it to one or two.
But, with eZineArticle, ArticleBase and GoArticles, this is not the case.

Nowadays the editorial guidelines are much more strict. Which is a good thing because it weeds out the clutter for those who are really interested in the subjects discussed. Thanks for compiling this useful list.

Just found out (because I tried), that Buzzle.com no longer allows any duplicate content or article marketing! Only original content. Here's what they say exactly on their new membership page:

I have found some of my articles submitted to ezinearticles.com to be copied to other sites, but WITHOUT an author bio box. That's a bit discouraging.
When I contacted the offending sites, I heard nothing back. Obviously the original link was beneficial, but the viral growth was stopped as soon as the bio box was eliminated.

Personally I do not like Article Base because it contains nofollow links. If you are writing articles at least there must be some incentive.
I think that I am going to give Buzzle a try. I have tried Ezines and did not like it, takes too long to accept an article. And GoArticles was devalued by panda to a PR 3, I am pretty sure.

Ezinearticles and goarticles are two of my favorites. I am trying to grow my list to about 10 directories I habitually can trust to not over police the articles, and provide a strong one way link. I see these are sorted by Alexa TR and not so much the PR or age of the domain. Do you feel the alexa ranking is more vital to deciding which at the top directories? I am assuming your answer would be yes.
